Alan Gene Van Sant is a highly experienced software/systems implementer and solutions integration architect with over two decades of experience. He is currently working as a Consultant/Instructor/Facilitator (contractor) at Web Age Solutions, where he lectures and facilitates practice on architectures, technologies, and products involved in access, integration, and business process management of Enterprise Information Systems (EIS). Gene has extensive experience as a contractor on various projects and maintains instructor certifications from IBM and others. His engagements focus on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) aspects, technologies, and products. As an implementor of WebSphere ND / WebSphere Process Server solutions, migration, and automation, he has gained valuable real-world experience while staying ahead of the wave with cutting-edge expertise. Gene's specialties include SOA, WebSphere Process Server / IBM BPM, WebSphere ND, WebSphere Automation, IBM Certified Solution Designer, IBM Certified Solution Designer Instructor, and IBM Certified WebSphere Instructor. He has worked with leading companies implementing their SOA roadmaps and has helped increase SOA maturity at large firms. Gene balances his career between implementing full-blown real-world solutions and teaching classes/workshops on emerging technologies and products. He teaches courses at customer sites for Web Age and IBM, including SOA Immersion for Architects - WebSphere Edition, SOA Immersion for Architects - Oracle Edition, WebSphere Process Server v7.0 Administration, SOA for Architects Using WebSphere ESB, and many more. Gene's education background includes an MS in Computer Science from Florida Institute of Technology, a diploma in Diplôme d'Etudes Commerciales et de Langues from Ecole Lémania, and a degree in Physics from the University of California. He has also attended the International School of Stockholm/Norra Real and the American School of Paris. Gene's tech stack includes Integration, test, designer, Java, Web, Senior Software Engineer, and Research Scientist.
